Blend Tool

This tutorial will show you how to use the blend tool in Illustrator to make repeated lines or shapes.

Step 1

Make your background color transparent and your stroke color white.


Step 2

Click on the pen tool and draw out two intersecting lines. If you don't know how to use the pen tool, read this tutorial first.


Step 3

Using the selection tool , highlight both of the lines you drew earlier. Double click on the blend tool and change your settings so that they look like mine. If you want lines that are closer together or farther apart, you can adjust the amount of steps.


Step 4

Click on the left end of the line on top, and then click on the left end of the line on bottom. Lines should show up between them, like this:

You can also use the right end of the lines; it doesn't matter. This effect can also be applied to other shapes. This is what a circle looks like blended with the same settings.
